Frequently asked Questions
How long is a fishing charter?
A fishing trip is normally about 6-7 hours dependant upon a number of factors such as
sea conditions, the weather and the number of fish that has been caught. The boat leaves at between 5 am and 6 am (depending on the time of the year) and normally returns between 1 pm and 2 pm.
Why can you only take 8 people fishing?
Commercial boats, like Allure, have strict safety regulations to which they have to adhere. In terms of our licensing by SAMSA (South African Maritime Safety Authorities) the boat is only certified to carry 12 people including the skipper and the crew further than 5 nautical miles from port.
What happens if there is bad weather?
A charter may be postponed (at the sole discretion of the skipper) due to bad weather and / or sea conditions. In this case, another charter will be arranged at your convenience. It is advisable to phone us before the charter to get an update on the weather.
What happens if I get sea sick?
The skipper has anti nausea tablets on board but it's advisable to take sea sick tablets at least 2 hours before embarking and refrain from 'over indulging' the night before.
We recommend ADCO-CYCLIZINE tablets for sea sickness, available at all pharmacies; they seem to work the best as they do not make you drowsy.
If you start to feel sea sick, it's a good practice to go out on the deck (near the front so you are away from the fumes and the smell of bait) Relax and keep your eyes on the horizon (this lets your brain establish a fixed bearing). If you adopt a positive attitude and keep busy, the nausea should soon pass.
What happens if I want to abort the trip?
Unfortunately we cannot refund monies paid for a charter if the client decides to return to shore early.
What sort of fishing will we do?
The style of fishing is largely dependent on the time of year. The skipper will often know what the other boats have been catching, and then make a decision on what or where to fish
